We had an exciting day when our adorable niece, Chloe came over and spent a night at our house yesterday. Chloe is a daughter of Richard (Robert's cousin)  and Katina. We babysit her one day while her parents going for course.  So this is the first time we babysit her. She is 4 years old and a talkative person making us feel so entertaining around her.
We spent a lot of time at the outside of the house. We had fun playing soccer, baseball and running around the yards even the weather was cold and windy. We kept her busy with the creative stuff like coloring picture and making the scrap book together. Seems that we had a lot of activities in one day.

The picture below showed my hubby and chloe were gluing  the leaves on the paper.

I took some pictures of her shaking the branch of the pear tree. She was so happy when seeing the leaves fall off of the tree.

I really like to see her long silky hair from her back. It is remind me Rapunzel, a fairy tale princess.

Below the picture taken before she is going to her mom's grandma. Alice gonna take her there.

Hope we see you later, Chloe. Love you.

Thanksgiving day is one of the national holiday in the USA. It is time to offer thanks, family gathering, large meals and family dinner. Most government offices, businesses and schools are closed on that day. It is a time for turkey, stuffing, cranberries sauce and pumpkin pie being served everywhere to mark the day. I think we just excited about that special FEAST. As usual turkey is the main dish in Thanksgiving day. It can be baked, roasted or fried. Alice cooked turkey this morning and she also made cranberries salad  or sometimes it's called congealed salad in a baking dish. Mash potatoes, corn and stuffing were prepared by Robert and I made a pumpkin pie.

My plate contained of turkey slices with cranberry jelly, corn, stuffing and some lettuce salad.

The salad made of cranberry jelly, cottage cheese, crush pinapple and Jello cherry flavour.

The pumpkin pie made of pumpkin puree, 2 eggs, evaporated milk, sugar and spices (nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger)

"Happy Thanksgiving from us" !!!

The colourful of leaves of the trees around my house has captured my attention in this autumn season. It is such an amazing things when you think and see the green pallette of summer is transformed into the autumn pallette of reds, orange, gold, purplish red and browns before the leaves fall off of the trees. The temperature also kind of interesting when it is sunny and warm during the day but it turn into cold or freezing during the night. There is National forest preserved just across the road from my house displaying trees such as cedar, spruce, firs , maple and other trees with variety of colours.

It has been 3 days I made this easy treats. Robert and I love it. It began when Alice brought home some of that treats from Halloween party she went. So the other day I bought a big box of Kelloggs Rice Krispies and a packet of plain marshmallow from Food Lion store at the beach. The price  for both of them  surprisely so cheap which were around $3.
Making it on the first time has turned out not so good. It was soggy and not crunchy at all. I was pretty little sad. I used microwave to make my job easily. I made mistake by pouring too much butter and I let the marshmallows melting all the way in the butter. So I try it again on the next day. Obviously only  a few steps of direction to make it. This recipe I made just for 2 persons. Here it is:
1) Heat 1 tbsp of butter in the bowl

2) Pour a half packet of marshmallow in the melted butter
 3) Heat them until they melted and ALMOST rising up around the bowl,

4)Pour the rice krispies into the marshmallow and stirred them until they all coated with marshmallow.
Those combination making that rice krispies so sticky and little elastic like a spider web. I put them in the baking dish, pressed them with buttered on the bottom of spoon until they all fit around the dish and finally let them cool for a while.
Then you can cut it off into cubes . Yeayy!!! Here is the picture of my rice krispies treat.
*Optional you can put some marshmallow topping for decoration
Let's enjoy them for breakfast or anytime you want.

Doing chores isn't much fun. Certain chores like washing dishes, taking out the trash and cleaning the house are really my pet peeve. I wish that I was the kind of person who should always stay on top of my chores but I really don't like doing it.

But I am so thankful to Robert who doesn't mind doing chores. He is doing dishes mostly everyday. I am doing dishes sometimes when he is busy doing other things but that kind of task isn't bothering him. He is also doing a lot of stuff like cleaning in every other day. Cleaning bedroom, bathroom, vaccuming the carpets and taking out the trash such a kind of relaxing to him.

Anyway I cook dinner most of the time.  Creating a good and creative meal making me wants to do it everyday and the most important is he loves my cooking.

Daylight saving time ending at 2 am on Nov 7 2010 and goes on until 2 am on March 2011. It means that I have to add an hour back today. I have no idea why US put some standard system extending their time. I suppose to change it at 2 am but I was sleeping. So I changed it when I woke up this morning. I move an hour back from 11.26 am

To this time at 10.26 am

It also reminding me that it will be 13 hours different between US time and Malaysia time rather than usual 12 hours different. It would be a good opportunity for me to communicate longer with my family in Malaysia during their daytime.

The transition from Daylight Saving Time to Standard Time just messing the clocks system, I guess. I don't see any reasons to put an extra hour back. But I need to be in positive way accepting with the time shift. The people could be more productive, work longer, exercise more and et cetera. Some states like Arizona and Hawaii do not practice this daylight time saving. So I think if I do not like it I should move over there.

Halloween is on October 31st every year and  most of the American people celebrate the halloween by decorating their yard with the spooky and scary things like fake tombstones, skull and scary carving pumpkins.  I stopped by at Subway Sandwich the other day and took some picture of their creativity.

This year we just bought only one pumpkin to decorate it. Last year Halloween was fun because we bought a few pumpkins to carve it and put the scary costume on like a Halloween movie.

There are few things before the carving process. First cut around the top off.

Then scrap the outer flesh and seeds until it smooth and clean inside

I carved 3 pictures on the pumpkin. One of the picture was a spider web with a spider on it but sadly it wasn't turn out good. The others looked good, I guess.

We put the pumpkin outside the house at night and snapped it without flash and the results were like those below, were they scary?

This year halloween, I become a dark witch.

And Babe was playing with a leopard stuff animal. His eyes reflecting to the camera flash and that was scary look.

Some candies for kids in case they are coming for  "Trick or Treat". Trick-or-treating is a custom for children on Halloween. Children proceed in variety costume from house to house, asking for treats such as confectionery, or sometimes money, with the question, "Trick or treat?. If we choose the "trick" they will do the terrible things to us. If we choose treat we give them candy.

And finally we took a picture together

Happy Halloween from us!!!
