29 May 2012

Venue: Precint 4, putrajaya
Date:  Saturday May 26th

R, H and I joined the running race last weekend. We hadn't planned at all earlier but since we found the race has no fee, we filled out the form online in the last minute on the last day of registration date May 15th.

Training?? No. I jogged a few minutes for two days within 2 weeks. I totally wasn't serious about it. In my head was just running for fun. Truthfully this is the first time 5k for me. I wish I had ran 5k in the US last time but I just ran 1 mile (1.6km) for a few times there. I absolutely had no idea running 5k in the hot weather here. This race was organized by Standard Chartered company and it called funrun 2012.
R and H competed 8k started the race at 8 am and mine will be at 8.15 am. So 8k runners ran first.

When the organizer announced the 5k participants to get ready at the starting line, it was a jam-pack. Hell! I hate crowded, mixing with people that I never know where they were coming from. Observing faces of people around me hardly motivated me.

I was alone in a crush. About 3 minutes to 8.15 am I remembered I had no warm up. My stomach unexpectedly upset in the early morning made me rush to the portable toilet when we arrived the place. I ended up with a couple of stretching exercise before race. My fingers clenching together while thinking how do I gonna perform during the race. My plan was running slow without stop. It was weird when I didn't feel nervous like I felt at the race in the US.

I ran slowly when the race began. It was great sightseeing around putrajaya area especially crossing the bridge and watching how the people acting during race.
Some of them walking, running fast, tighting the shoe lace and talking. I definitely had fun running but one thing bothering me was the sunray directly started heating up the surface of the roads. It was hot at 8.30 am. I couldn't imagine I soaked up under the sun while running and the heat from the road really dehydrating me. I ran all the way until I hit the hilly part.

My body completely sweat, toasted and finally I decided to walk. A water station just right at the corner of the hilly part. Literally I had ran about 3km, I guess. Grabbing two cups of water certainly one for drink and another one ...I was thinking to pour water on my head but I worried my tshirt got wet so I poured it all over my face. I ran and walked altenately along the hilly area. Damn it! the hot weather and hilly road crazily challenged my mental to stop runnning.

Running down the hills was an easy part and I had to stop again when a lot of the runners were walking on the path in front of me. I saw R at the side of the road and he was looking for me. I bet he just finished his 8k race. Seeing him from far energizing me up to pass the runners. I ran faster when I saw the sign read "500 meters to go". He saw me and running with me. He was totally supportive to get me running to the end. We ran side by side. I love that moment. I couldn't say a word while he was saying I did it good. When I passed the bridge it was another 100 meters and I flew away to the finish line leaving him behind.

I felt really good after running. I couldn't believe it, I did it. I finished at 8.56 am. So I ran around  41 minutes for 5k.
I chilled out myself with 100 plus drinks and looking for R and H. I am glad that R and H finished the 8k race good and we took some picture together.

The shoes that I was wearing was a new shoes. Buying those shoes to run this 5k race really worth it.
We were looking for shady place to rest
Three of us chilling out at the runner zone tent.

We left the place around 1:00 pm after lucky draw session.

Last week we had fleas attacked in the house. Our HOUSE got FLEAS?!  Seems they are so tiny and hardly to see with naked eyes, we can't see where they came from and when they are going to bite until I realized that I got many rashes on my legs and feet. Those rashes were totally driving me insane. They were extremely itchy and cause me to sratch it like a crazy person.

Part of the rashes
We believed a stray female yellow fat cat which came in through window few days ago was a flea carrier, brought it in and the fleas bred it in the living room area. So we bought a few stuff to stop the fleas's "PARTY".

- calamine lotion - apply on the bites
- hydrocortisone  - apply on the bites
- bugs spray  - spray on the body to keep off of bugs
- antihistamine pills - take twice a day

Those stuff generally relieve me from itchy and totally stop me from scratching.  One thing that I need to get rid of is  the scars which left on my skin.

14 May 2012

It was totally another BIG day for my baby. This is the 4th race for him and the month of May, Robert was the runner for 12 km category.

Outrageously to say, the race started at 3:00 am for 21 km and 4:00 am for 12 km. While everybody was on bed sleeping on Sunday morning, we struggled up in the middle of the night to get ready for running race PJDawn 2012 organized by Outbox Production at Stadium Kelana Jaya, Petaling Jaya. We left home at 2 am and I couldn't imagine I was driving on my sleepyhead. But both of us so excited about this dawn event.

Getting there was easy eventhough I have a little bit lack of confident driving to the destination. I've been to swimming complex kelana jaya but never to stadium. I did my job - looked at Google maps before leaving. It was really helpful and guided me which road I should hit. We arrived there at 2.30 am and fortunately got a parking space nearby the stadium.

We saw 21km runners were getting ready at the start line to race. I guess it was about more 200 participants of 21 km running. Robert started stretching exercise while I was waiting for my little sister and her husband, H, who also took part 12 km running race. They came around 3.20 am.

The 12 km runners began to walk to start line just right 15 minutes to 4 am.

The starting path was crowded when the runners gathered together and made them walking, some of them slow running after we heard the sound of horn vuvuzela at 4 am.

When they were all gone, my sis and I walked to find something to munch on and got some picture of us together while waiting for our husband.

The first 21 km runner which was from Kenya finished at 4.30 am at the finish line. Finished an hour and half for 21 km was ultimately like flying. I waited and looked every runner. Frankly I was nervous. It was almost 5 am and I believe he would run good this time. Finally I saw Robert was running towards to the end line. He completely did  better than 3rd race in Penang and finished around 58 minutes based on his timer watch.
It was too dark, my camera didn't capture it good, Robert at the finish line!
 Faces of proud and happiness

We went to the food station to grab a goodie bag, some snacks, drinks and waiting for H. He managed running to the finish line and he did good.
My sis and H

We absolutely happy and had fun in that morning. It was still dark.
H was munching some food
We shared some snack that we got at the food counter and said goodbye after that.

The result of Robert's race: He got 12th position. Congrats honey bunny!
The stage for giving the prize to top five runners
Actual result: GUN TIME: 58:53.8; NET TIME: 58:20.4
RANKING: 12
Every participants got a medal and plus he got an extra prize, T-shirt which is says
Front t-shirt
back of tshirt
That's all for the race. Can't wait for another race!

We are totally kind of the people who never live without OJ. Orange juice or OJ (American term) is must have for our daily breakfast in the US. But here in KL,Malaysia we bought oranges every week since we found them a lot cheaper than a carton of pure juice (64 oz) which is cost about RM21.49 at the store in KL. That's a huge differences when we compared the price of orange juice in the US which is $2.99 (RM9.00) for 64 oz and $4.99 (RM15.00) for 89 oz . I might have conversion unit syndrome when I shop groceries here so everything is calculated to save money.

100% pure, not concentrated and pasteurized of a bottle of OJ are undeniably choice of us in the US. Get from the fridge, shake it and pour to the glass and drink. Easy!! and I completely don't bother what type of orange that they made of. I just know that just pure OJ, love it and nothing else.

Now I learned something about oranges. Types of orange. The different taste and sweetness between these two oranges, Valencia and Navel. Navel has bigger size than Valencia which is really sweet, seedless and taste just like OJ.

I think it is pretty cool when we cut and eat real oranges everyday and set it with mango. Orange-mango combination is completely quench for breakfast. mmmm....

Have a fantastic weekend !!
