The snowfall and cold day won't prevent us to spend time outside of the house. We just have to wear adequate clothing like thick gloves, thick jacket, hat, socks and boots to make sure we do not get the frost bite. Frost bite is frozen body tissue when your skin affected to the extreme cold at or below 0 degree temperature. It would lead to the death of  skin tissues when body exposed to cold for long periods.

Building a snowman is part of the creative activity in the lazy winter day. All I need was few inches snow from the ground. I built it about  3 ft height, Robert said it was a dwarf snowman. I think it was cute.

Anyway it crashed when Babe jumped on it while we were throwing snowball to each other. I felt really good when Robert snapping my pictures while snowfalling

The heavy snowfall made us took a break for a while in the house then I built another snowman at the front yard. Here it is
 The snow still falling heavily.

We went outside at night around 8.30 o'clock and we decided to make a giant snowman. Our feet hardly walking in the 3 to 4 inches depth of snow.

The texture of snow was fluffy, dusty and crystallize. It didn't stick together when we rolled the ball to make a snowman unless we put some water in it. So we changed our plan.
We went to the backyard and found some wet snow on the kitchen steps. We made snowballs and filled in the buckets. We gonna have some snowballs fight.Yeay!!
Here it's a bucket full of snowballs
Before snowball fighting, I took a chance to lay my body on the snow. Cold and soft exactly.
We set the games in the middle of the field and sitting apart around 6 feet from each other. Throwing snowballs to each other was really entertaining and so fun. That balls was hard, cold and burst out into dust when they hitting us and one snowball enough to make us hurt and fell down. We laughed when we hit each other face. We played and so busy making snowball until I realized that my feet got numb. I hope I didn't get frost bite. I told him about the condition of my feet and we decided to stop after a while. Below was the picture of Robert  helping me making my snowballs for the last fight.

Babe was sitting while waiting us playing snowball fight.
Another thing to tell you is I made snow ice. I picked some clean snow and filled in the bowl. Then I put some evaporated milk, caramel syrup and some corn. It just look like ABC or in malay "Air Batu Campur". ABC is one of the ice cream dessert in Malaysia.
Cold, smooth like ice blended. The taste was marvellous, really special from the sky.

The weather channel on tv and newspaper had informed us two days ago that our areas will be snowing on Sunday. I hoped it was true and if it is, it will be my first time to experience the snow in the winter. Definitly I missed the opportunity of snow last year and got jealous when Robert sent me a few pictures of snowman. I am really  thankful today.

The  snow started falling around 9 am after a few hours raining last night. It was so wonderful to see the snow falling through the glass window. The top of the trees and the ground turning white around the yard. Feeling of excitement made me rushed outside with Babe. Put the boots and jacket on and walking in the snow. Cold air was blowing while snow flakes were hitting on my face. I snapped some pictures when the snow started getting heavily.

Cold, breezy and icy.

The snow  is about 2 inches deep at the yard and the road is so slippery and wet.

and some pictures of me in the snowing

There will be other story of snowing so stay tune....

25 December 2010

Today is the Christmas day. I woke up late this morning. Alice went out early this morning to Beaulaville for Christmas feast at Elaine's house. Personally My baby and I really do not have Christmas spirit like everybody else. Many people decorate their house after the Thanksgiving day. Maybe it was because it is just like normal holiday and nothing so special.

Definitely I changed my mind and got motivation about holiday when I went to the garage and see all the decorations stuff on the pool table. I was thinking to put up all the decorations around the house into the "Christmas Theme" today.

But the tree, I have been putting up the tree 3 days ago before christmas. Anyway this year we have a fake tree. I still miss the smell of fir tree when I put it up last year.

Christmas tree in the night time
The pictures below showed the decoration I put around the house. First thing was decoration on the door
Then I replaced the old clock to christmas theme clock

I also set the table with Poinsettia flower and green and red table cloth. The red color of the flower was really outstanding.
Even my dog, Babe..I put a stuff on his head to represent a reindeer. I took much time to make him stay with that thing because he did not like that stuff on his head and he tried to take it off.

We decided to have roast beef instead of turkey. So I made roasted beef, potato salad, sweet potato pie and blueberry jelly. You can see how juicy the beef was..actually it was a whole 3 lb beef but it was cut by Robert.

My plate contained a slice of roast beef, potato salad and some mixes of lettuce.
The color of jelly was  crystal blue and it was really strange when I saw it on my plate. But the taste was yummy.
Lastly best wishes from us to all friends and family here,

Cold, freezing, icy, frost and dead looking, all those words are so popular in the cold season. I am totally hate very very cold temperature. The autumn had gone and the winter just started two days ago on 21st December according to calendar.
This cold season sometimes turned me into a lazy person and do nothing except eating hot food, drinking warm hot chocolate (French Vanilla Hot Chocolate is my favourite) and sitting in front of my laptop for hours or avoiding myself to go outside.

What a good about the cold weather? There is no mosquito or any bugs flying around or bite me while being outside and I can feel the fresh of air surrounding me.
What are not good about it ? I need to wear thermal undershirt, sweater and socks all the time to keep my body warm even the heater is on in the house. The picture below is the heater box says 85 degree fahrenheit. It's warming the house but my feet still catching the cold.

It is nice when it just cold and no wind but when the cold wind is blowing around me its making my nose start running, my fingers start  freezing, my hair catching cold and I started getting light headed.

Actually I enjoyed being outside in the cold weather when I put on proper clothing. Walking the dog is part of my daily activity so it is the right time to wear the winter gear - hat or tobaggon, gloves, scarf and thick jacket. I think I should be thankful and embrace an opportunity of the cold weather..

Sweet potato pie is really simple and quick to make. It become our dessert after dinner, after lunch or tea time when I made this recipe. Both of us absolutely love it. This pie is so popular in Thanksgiving or holidays treat.

It tastes like a pumpkin pie but it just have different solid texture, creamy and sweet. You can find a lot of recipes on the internet but mine just like that below

Ingredients:
2 cups mashed of cooked sweet potatoes
2 eggs
1/4  cup sugar
1/4 cup evaporated milk (optional:  just add milk if you do not have evaporated milk)
1/2 tsp  ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp ground ginger
A little bit of salt.
1 unbaked pie crust (9 inch)

Directions
1) Preheat oven to 350 degree F
2) Combine all the ingredient in the mixing bowl. Mix together well
3) Pour into pie shell and bake it for 25-30 minutes or until it firm

Then you can cut it a slice when it is cool and put the cool whip on top..Tadaaa...!!Enjoy!

I was wondering when Robert told me the other day about chocolate ball shape like orange. WHAT?!! Shaped like orange? I was never thought that chocolate has kind of special version. Christmas is just around the corner and we guess that chocolate is part of the holidays product. We have been looking over the internet since then and we found Terry chocolate brand website. Certainly we don't want to order it online.

Feeling of excitement just surrounding me when I went to the Walgreen store to look for it. A lot of chocolates and candy with different form on the rack at the christmas product segment. It took a while for me to find because I can't imagine how it looked like and finally I found it. Yeayy!! but it wasn't Terry but different brand. That was the only one brand they sell so I bought two kinds; milk chocolate and dark chocolate. Here they are

The chocolate itself is wrapped in orange and yellow metallic foil wrapper. It really does resemble an orange.
It is solid chocolate when I hold it and I have to tap it on the hard surface to separate that chocolate into slices.
The smell of orange really hitting me when I opened the wrapper. It was very pleasant smell. Natural not artificial. Pretty round orange form.
The taste was a wonderful mixture of orange and chocolate. I nibble it one and want another
It has unique taste and rich orange flavour.. We love it so much!!!
